Anthony Coletta, M.D.
We mourn the loss of Anthony V. Coletta, MD, who served as President and Board Chairman of Blue Sky from its founding until his untimely death on May 11, 2024. Having led numerous surgical missions in Haiti and Honduras over the last 14 years, Dr. Coletta bravely served the poorest of the poor with great compassion and skill. His unstinting dedication was inspirational to all who served with him.
Dr. Coletta was a passionate, pioneering surgeon at Bryn Mawr Hospital for 25 years. He was also a successful healthcare leader, working at the Holy Redeemer Health System, Tandigm Health, and Independence Blue Cross. While he was widely known for his career accomplishments, the work most important to him was his philanthropy.
Over the course of many years beginning in 2007 he brought surgical teams to Haiti to provide medical services to those most in need. After Haiti became too dangerous, Blue Sky Surgical joined forces with Saving at the Crossroads (“SATC”), a Pennsylvania based NGO, to send missions to treat the poor in rural Honduras.
In October 2023 Tony led a large mission to the Manos Amigas Clinic in La Entrada, Honduras where over 60 pediatric and adult patients were given life-changing surgery. Another mission is planned for September 2024.
Tony Coletta leaves a wife, two sons, one daughter and many grandchildren. He will live on in their blessed memory and in the memories of the many patients he treated during his lifetime.
It is with great sadness that the Blue Sky Board of Directors expresses their deepest sympathies to the family of Anthony V. Coletta, MD, who served as President of Blue Sky Surgical, Inc. from its founding until his untimely death on Saturday May 11.
Having led numerous surgical missions in Haiti and Honduras over the last 14 years, Dr. Coletta bravely served the poorest of the poor with great compassion and skill. His unstinting dedication was inspirational to all who served with him.
We join his family, friends, and former colleagues in mourning his loss and pledge to keep our mission alive in his name.
