Blue Sky is proud to announce its second Mission to Honduras on September 19 – 28, 2024. For the first time Blue Sky will provide Ob/Gyn, general/family and pediatric care, as well as an educational program in Neonatal Resuscitation Protocols at the Mayan Birthing Center in La Entrada.
As with Blue Sky’s first mission in October 2023, its team will provide surgical services at the Manos Amigas clinic in La Entrada in partnership with Serving at the Crossroads, the Pennsylvania based public charity that established the clinic several years ago. Ob/Gyn care will now also be provided by the Blue Sky team at the clinic.
Thanks to Blue Sky’s newfound partnership with Summit in Honduras- a Colorado based public charity active in Honduras since 2005- the Blue Sky mission team will also provide essential pediatric and general/family medical care to patients in several remote villages outside of La Entrada.
Seth Newman, MD, Board Vice President and the lead surgeon on this year’s mission, said “As a veteran of international missions in Honduras, Haiti and the Dominican Republic since 2007, I’m honored to be assuming the lead of this mission from Dr. George Trachtenberg, and in the footsteps and loving memory of our dear friend, the late Dr. Tony Coletta, Blue Sky’s founder”. Dr. Newman also noted that, “Through Tony’s vision and the Blue Sky Board’s leadership, assisted by our generous donors, we are able to support our team’s travel expenses. We will share our September mission with you on social media as it unfolds and update you after we return. We thank all our supporters and partners for making our mission possible”.
